IMPROVE YOUR VOCABULARY
"Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body"  Richard Steele

To improve your vocabulary nothing beats reading in English every day, and I mean EVERY day: graded readers, newspapers, magazines, novels, etc., and today you have the most wonderful resource at your fingertips: the Internet!

Why don't you have a look at Fiesta English's links to online English language newspapers and magazines.

"The more you read, the more things you will know.
The more that you learn,  the more  places that you'll go"

Dr Seuss, "I can read with my eyes shut!"

Vocabulary Cards
Another good way to widen your vocabulary is to organise words into categories, eg. animals, cinema, health, etc. (Full list of vocabulary topics. Lista en espaƱol).

Copy the words onto little cards, that would fit into your wallet, or your pocket.  On one side write the English and on the other the translation. Don't forget to include the phonetics and stress. Although it can seem a bit laborious adding these extra details it really is an investment. English pronunciation can be hard to master so it's best to know the proper pronunciation and stress from the get-go.

Revise them every day for just five to ten minutes, whenever you have a spare moment (on the bus or train, or when you're stuck in heavy traffic, or waiting for your dinner to cook!). Then start dividing them into two piles, the words or phrases you know in one pile, and those you don't in the other.  EASY!

There are plenty of online exercises where you can test your vocabulary knowledge. Try these for example:  Verbs; Adjectives; Confusing words
